All LIFE projects must include monitoring actions to guarantee an adequate control of their own development. They consist of several indicators to be measured before, during and after the course of the project in order to evaluate its implementation. With respect to LIFE Montserrat, monitoring actions are focused on:
To that end, a battery of 24 indicators have been designed. Among other factors, a proper characterisation of the initial situation becomes essential to the usefulness of the indicators and to the comparability of results. And that is what is underway during these spring weeks. Thus, fieldwork is getting done in order to collect data concerning indicators based on flora and vegetation, butterfly populations, species of high conservation concern and livestock condition.
Monitoring work is an ongoing task that will last through the whole project period.
