Technical visit to fire managed areas

Technical visit to fire managed areas

12 November 2018

A group of technicians from the OPEN2PRESERVE project came to the LIFE Montserrat area on November 7. They visited the areas that were affected by a forest fire in 2015 and some plots where prescribed burnings have been carried out. The intention was to see real examples of how technical fire is being used in the framework of the LIFE Montserrat project.

OPEN2PRESERVE is a European project (Interreg) focused on the implementation of combined techniques including prescribed fire and extensive grazing to preserve open areas and their associated biodiversity in mountain areas in Southern Europe.
