6 May 2015
Several meetings are taking place during April and May 2015 in different municipalities within the project area with the aim of recruiting new members to the Association of Forest Owners of Montserrat Surroundings (APFEM). The meetings fit within project’s action A1 and should both become a boost to the APFEM and strengthen active cooperation among forest owners.
The meetings have been organized by project technical staff together with local governments in the Montserrat area and the APFEM. They only target forest owners as a strategy to guarantee that all subjects of concern to this group can be fully discussed.
The format of the meetings allows participants to deeply analyse the whole range of opportunities brought by the project and gives them the chance to expose their questions, doubts and reticence. It also becomes an excellent framework for owners already associated in the APFEM to share their experience with potential new members. All of this is aimed at bringing in new forest owners to the APFEM, especially those with lands in the strategic areas (Project Management Areas) where concrete conservation actions should be carried out.
