Catalonia’s School of Shepherds joins the LIFE Montserrat project

The School of Shepherds will participate in the selection, training and accompaniment processes of farmers willing to join the project, in accordance with the agreement reached between the School and the LIFE Montserrat project.
The economic viability of livestock farmers and their sustainability beyond the project lifetime have been identified as critical factors for achieving the global objectives of the project. From this standpoint, it seems necessary to offer strong support to farmers in their adaptation to the new exploitation patterns, mostly those showing little experience or a low degree of professionalization.
The agreement will allow to place the experience and knowledge accumulated by the School of Shepherds at the service of the project. Farmers will then benefit from continuous expert guidance to ensure that all livestock farming activities end up being managed by fully qualified professionals.
